Nokia 8850 vs Nokia 8210Singapore - 29 Jan 2000
Due to popular demand, we will be examining these two phones offered by Nokia. Besides external appearance, the Nokia 8850 and 8210 has a few subtle differences, and we will go through them here for the benefit of interested phone seekers.
The physical differences between the two phones:
Size, weight and casing. The 8850 is 91g with Li battery, while the 8210 is 79g. The 8850 is a "covered key pad" design, while the 8210 is uncovered. 8210 is made to allow changeable covers, while 8850 is not, unless introduced by after market vendors.
The lighting:
The 8850 uses blue lighting while the 8210 uses green. Neither of them has EL lighting (like those on Japanese sports watches.)
IR Support:
8850 and 8210 has a built in IR port.
Modem Ability:
Modem drivers are available for both from Nokia forum website.

Cable Connectors:
At this time, we are not certain if cable connectors can be used with them. Cables provided with Nokia Data Suite 2.0 and 3.0 appears to be mechanically incompatible.
Voice Dial:
Both supports voice dial.
Operator and group graphics and ring tones:
The 8850 and 8210 should behave similar to the 8810 in supporting the above. That is, all are capable of sending and receiving them by SMS.
Tone Composition:
Again, the 8850 and 8210 behaves like the 8810. No tone composition is supported on board. New tones must be received using SMS or IR.
Key lock Mechanisms:
8850 has a similar key lock mechanism like the 8810. The slide cover is "active". 8210 does not have a slide cover, as mentioned.
Charger Base:
Both do not have the same desktop charger base, although both use the same battery. Meaning that you should be able to cross charge the batteries by direct plugging in of the AC to the phones.
Price Difference:
No idea. (Typically Nokia 8850 at SG$1388 vs Nokia 8210 at SG$888)
