Xiaomi Introduces First 64MP Camera Smartphone In Malaysia With The Redmi Note 8 Series

If you so ever wanted a smartphone with a 64MP camera, it is now here. Xiaomi held their latest smartphone launch in Malaysia with the Redmi Note 8 Series which comprises the Redmi Note 8 as well as its “Pro” equivalent, the first such smartphone in Malaysia that offers higher than 48MP camera.

First announced at the end of August, the Redmi Note 8 Series brings smartphone camera up another level in the escalating megapixels war. The Redmi Note 8 Pro boasts a 64MP camera as part of its quad-camera array lineup which also features a 8MP ultra-wide angle lens together with a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP dedicated macro lens. While not as high-achieving, the Redmi Note 8 still packs a 48MP main camera. Similar to the quad-camera system on the Pro variant, the Redmi Note 8 also has a 8MP ultra-wide angle lens + 2MP depth sensor + 2MP macro lens setup. As for the front selfie camera, its 20MP vs 13MP in favor of the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

The two devices differ more ways than one. The Redmi Note 8 Pro has a larger display and battery. It also uses the gaming-enhanced Mediatek Helio G90T chipset while the Redmi Note 8 runs on Snapdragon 665. You will also find extra features like Game Turbo 2.0 and LiquidCool technology on the higher-end phone, which makes it a better choice for gaming purposes. Design-wise, while both have similar teardrop notch on their displays, the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a centrally-aligned rear camera array as opposed to the Redmi Note 8’s more common side alignment.

In Malaysia, the Redmi Note 8 will be offered in a total of three different configurations which are 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage in Mineral Gray, Pearl White and Forest Green color options On the other hand, the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes in two 6GB RAM models with 64GB and 128GB storage options in Space Black, Neptune Blue, and Moonlight White.

You will be able to purchase them at Lazada, Shopee as well as all authorized Mi Stores nationwide. Xiaomi Malaysia will be having special online pre-order deals for the phones. The Redmi Note 8 Pro (6GB + 64GB) will be available at an early bird price of RM999 for pre-orders made between October 8 to October 11 while those pre-ordering the 6GB + 128GB model will each receive a free Black Shark Gaming Controller Left worth RM169. Meanwhile, pre-orders for the Redmi Note 8 during the same four-day period will come bundled with a free Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic.
