The Moto X4 has been delayed, and it would be a long time before it does arrive. VentureBeat’s Evan Blass reports that the Moto X4 will be announced in the fourth quarter. One of the possible reasons why could be Qualcomm struggling to meet demands of the Snapdragon 660 chip that will be used for the device, but also to avoid the Moto X4 from affecting sales of the newly announced Moto Z2 Play.

Moto X4 Preview

The Moto Z2 Play is priced between $400 and $450 depending on location. The Moto X4 is mid-range too, so its pricing shouldn’t be too different. Releasing the Moto X4 in Q4 would allow more units of the Moto Z2 Play to sell first.

The Moto X4 will be the first non-Pixel or Nexus device to support Google’s Project Fi. Project Fi’s official Twitter account revealed a new mid-range device from one of its partners was going to join the network later in the year, and a source close to both the project and Motorola revealed the device being the Moto X4.

The Moto X4 will have dual rear cameras, a Snapdragon 660, IP68 rating, 5.2-inch screen size and will have a glass body instead of polycarbonate.
