Comparison – Samsung Galaxy S4 vs Apple iPhone 5S
Samsung Galaxy S4 was launched on 14 March 2013 at an event in New York City while the Apple iPhone 5S was officially announced at the WWDC event in September 2013, together with their new mid-range iPhone 5C.
The Samsung Galaxy S IV runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) and is powered by either a 1.9GHz quad-core processor or a 1.6GHz octa-core processor, depending upon which region the mobile phone is being sold. It has a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920) Super AMOLED display (441 ppi). The Samsung Galaxy S4 is also equipped with a 13.0-megapixel camera, with the inclusion of the Smart Mode camera filters and settings first introduced in the Samsung Galaxy Camera.
Based on what we saw yesterday, Apple’s iPhone 5S will be as thin and light as the iPhone 5 and the form factor will essentially remain the same with a 4-inch Retina display and metallic unibody design, but has a processor upgrade. The chipset is all-new with a A7 chip, the first-ever 64-bit chip from Cupertino, so along with running on four cores expect the 5S to be unparalleled in terms of speedy performance, with about twice the processing power of the iPhone 5.

Naturally, Apple also included the next generation of its very own operating system, iOS 7, which sported the radical new flat design departure from previous versions of its native operating system. The Galaxy S4 was released before Google revealed the latest 4.3 update to Android, but by now the Galaxy SIVs the world over are able to upgrade to this version.
Unexpectedly, Apple did not come out with a 13-megapixel camera for the iPhone 5S’s iSight setup, instead retaining the 8-megapixel shooter of the 5, but with slight improvements such as a 15% larger image sensor, larger aperture at f2.2, and a dual-LED flash that can combine both LEDs flashes to create multiple types of flash exposures, which should in theory allow for a more balanced and realistic feel. The front-facing Facetime camera is also said to be much improved, together with more features for the Camera and Photos apps to round out camera enhancements for the 5S.
