vivo NEX 3 Could Debut In October With “Waterfall” Curve Display

The vivo NEX series have always been a hallmark of smartphone innovation. The first NEX device sees the early introductions of the now-ubiquitous pop-up selfie camera and in-display fingerprint sensor. The vivo NEX Dual Display meanwhile features two fully-functional color displays at the front and back. If the latest design sketch by the vivo NEX’s product manager Li Xiang of the alleged “vivo NEX 3” is anything to go by, vivo will be attempting a new kind of display style that looks interesting yet not unfamiliar to many.

The “waterfall” screen design sees the main display with enveloping curves at both sides, a trend kickstarted by Samsung with their flagship phone series a few years ago. In vivo’s approach, the curves extend all the way down to cover the sides which means there aren’t any side buttons and that touch buttons will be used instead. Over at the back, the vivo NEX 3 is also shown to have a centred, circular camera module which houses its three rear cameras.

The design sketch is further corroborated by the emergence of several pictures showing the glass display panel as well as the device itself.

Word has it that the vivo NEX 3 will be making its debut sometime in October. We shall learn more in the weeks and months to come.
