The Sony Xperia Z4 may launch in Hong Kong and Taiwan as the Xperia Z3+

Although the Xperia Z4 was announced last month in Japan, it was done without much fanfare in Japan. Even so, it has not stopped the company from releasing the device overseas, for the time being in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

To recap on its hardware, the Xperia Z4 retains the same 5.2-inch HD 1920 x 1080 pixel display, although this time around, it will be powered by a top of the line 2.0GHz Snapdragon 810 Octa-Core processor, which is paired to 3GB of RAM. In addition to that, there is 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via the use microSD cards. Serving as a flagship Sony Xperia device, it is also rated with the appropriate dust and water resistance certifications. In the imaging department, the Xperia Z4 comes equipped with the same 20.7-megapixel BSI main camera with 25mm wide angle lens that supports 4K video recording. Out on the front, there is now a 5-megapixel camera which should suffice for all your selfie needs. Time around around, the device gets a smaller 2,950mAh non-removable battery, as opposed to the 3,200mAh one found on the Z3. In exchange, the device is thinner and lighter than its predecessor.

According to the invites distributed to the local press, the new flagship device emphasises aspects such as the camera, screen, sound and design. Keeping in mind that the Xperia Z4 isn’t really perceived as an all new model, there is likelihood that it will be known as the Xperia Z3+ outside Japan. Since India will apparently have a launch event too on 26th May, we will know soon enough if this rumour holds any water.
