The Snapdragon 845 SoC will power Meitu’s upcoming flagship

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meitu launched its flagship under the V-series line as the Meitu V6, last year November. A new flagship smartphone is being prepared for this year.

Reports say the company may choose the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 instead of a MediaTek processor, the former having been  used on most flagship phones this year. The Meitu V6 used a MediaTek Helio X30 chipset.

A Geekbench listing has revealed some details about a new Meitu smartphone (model number MP1801), showing specs like a Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB RAM and Android 8.1 Oreo. There’s no confirmation this would be the flagship, but specs would suggest it is.

Last year’s Meitu V6 is a luxury device with a half-stitched, calfskin leather that had 4 different colours, 18K gold rivets on the back and a gold coloured metal frame, four cameras – two rear, two front – and four LED flash on the back.

At launch, prices were CNY 5099 (MYR 3,042.80) for the Standard Edition, and 6999 yuan (~$1022) for Advanced Custom Edition. For now, just wait for confirmed pricing when the phone is officially launched.
