The BlackBerry Leap will officially be available on May 20

The BlackBerry Leap is making its way to our shores by next week, with pre-orders already available via 11street. As a full touch interface alternative to the BlackBerry Classic, the device is being marketed as a mid-range device, its target demographic are fresh graduates just about to look for work.

And a quick recap on its hardware. When compared against the company’s previous flagship, the BlackBerry Z3, the Leap come equipped with a 5-inch display capable of HD 720p, as opposed to the 960 x 540 pixels found in the former. The Leap will be powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 MSM8960 processor, paired to 2GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via microSD cards. As far as imaging capabilities go, the smartphone comes equipped with an 8-megapixel rear shooter, accompanied by a 2-megapixel front camera. Keeping everything in check is a battery with a capacity of 2,800mAh.

Interested parties will be able to get their hands on the BlackBerry Leap for RM1089(inclusive of GST). With regards to availability, BlackBerry authorised partners which include Celcom, Maxis Enterprise, and Tune Talk. DiGi has yet to be confirmed, due to unknown reasons, with BlackBerry merely stating the telco has not come to a decision.
