Snapdragon 712 SoC announced by Qualcomm

The Snapdragon 712 SoC has just been announced by Qualcomm, and it serves as the direct successor to the Snapdragon 710 SoC. Like its predecessor, the Snapdragon 712 was designed for use in mid-range devices, boasting performance levels somewhat closer to the 800 series of chipsets.

Based on the same 10nm LPP FinFET fabrication, we are still looking at an octa-core processor, with two Cortex-A75 cores running at 2.3GHz, and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.7GHz. Compared to the Snapdragon 710, the new chipset has two new audio features, namely  TrueWireless Stereo Plus and Broadcast Audio. The former is designed for the use of wireless headsets and earbuds, whereas the latter facilitates the streaming of audio to several Bluetooth devices at the same time. Making its return is Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ technology.

At this juncture, we have no idea what smartphones will be having the SoC, but with MWC 2019 coming up soon, we may soon find out.
