Six camera Xperia smartphone being worked on by Sony Mobile

Sony Mobile is reporting to be working on a new Xperia smartphone featuring a whooping six-camera configuration. The rumour comes by way of leakster Max J, who has been known for accurate leaks. A concept render was provided although it is highly unlikely the design will go through.

Exact details of the smartphone are unclear, although speculations suggest that it will have a telephoto camera, a super wide-angle lens, and a Time of Flight (TOF) sensor. Furthermore, it is also possible that Sony could throw in a monochrome sensor and macro lens for good measure. In any case, Sony is not the first brand to develop a smartphone with more than a triple-camera setup. In February 2019, Nokia announced its Nokia 9 Pureview with 5 12-megapixel rear shooters.

Regardless, the device is said to be still very early in development, so there could be many changes along the way. Furthermore, with Sony Mobile all but abandoned Malaysia, it is unlikely we will see the device here if at all.
