Scand.a – An Unconventional Projector Smartphone That Has The Looks

Once in a while, there comes a smartphone that makes you sit up and take notice, or at the very least raise your eyebrows. This is one such phone, thanks to its rather unique feature, and its curious name.

This is Scand.a, an Android smartphone that has a built-in projector, produced by Clover Consulting International Limited which is a Hong Kong incorporated tech company founded and led by a team of qualified and driven Malaysian professionals. Of course, visual projection from a smartphone is not an entirely new thing. Samsung has already attempted the concept with the Galaxy Beam and more recently Motorola with their Moto Insta-Share Projector as part of their modular Moto Mods project. But this is probably the first time a “projector smartphone” doesn’t screams bulky and ugly and actually manages to look pretty decent. Large top and bottom bezels aside, the Scand.a sports a shiny and reflective Gorilla Glass 3-level glass back.

The use case of a smartphone with a built-in projector is mostly centered on entertainment, but it can also be used in an office settings for things like meetings and presentations. For the projector component, the Scand.a uses an OSRAM LED with 80 lumens HD projection in WVGA resolution (1280 x 720p) that has a lifespan of 20,000 hours. The projection can go from 12 to 200 inches (diagonal) in size. Fittingly, a smartphone that is made for long hours of viewing content packs a large 4,500mAh battery.
