19 September 2012 -?If the name of the phone sounds familiar, it’s because we’ve reviewed this device back in 2011. But it looks like it is making a comeback this time by Maxis and Pantai Hospital KL. The EPI Life is marketed as a health phone, and indeed it is built-in with an ECG (Electrocardiogram) phone which is able to monitor your heartbeat for any irregularities.
Simply hold the phone with your left hand, and then place two right fingers at the bottom of the phone, then the EPI Life will measure your heartbeat. The results are then sent to a 24-hour Health Concierge?Centre, which will then send you back the results on the condition of your heart.
If any heart conditions are detected, the phone will prompt you to seek medical attention. You can also detect your ECG if you place the phone on your knees or right underneath your chest.
As for features, you'll get a 2.8-inch resistive screen with a stylus and GPRS for connectivity.
The phone will run you RM2299, but the ECG package would come in prepaid and postpaid form ?in 5, 10, 30 ECG checks a month which will start as low as RM 13 per ECG. Jean-Michel Mougin, Managing Director of Heartronics, said that the various plans are catered to healthy folks who want to keep track of their condition or people with serious heart problems.?/p>
