Moola, a mobilephone friendly loyalty program

13 September 2012 – Moola is a new wave of loyalty program by ICT Utopia that utilizes mobile apps and QR code technology instead of conventional card system. It is designed for the convenience of the customers, and eliminating the hassle of carrying an additional loyalty card in their pocket. All the customer need to download the Moola app to their mobile phone and they can start enjoying Moola privileges.

Kenny Khow, 1 Utopia’s Executive Director explains “As many are aware, the mobile phone penetration rate in Malaysia has hit an overwhelming record of 127.7% and smartphone users’ penetration rate is expected to reach 80% by the end of this year”

Currently, Moola’s app only supports iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices. They are in the midst of fine tuning the app experience for Android first, before venturing into the newer Windows Phone mobile operating system. A MMS containing the QR code will be sent to customers who own mobile phones that run outside the three supported mobile platforms.

At launch, Moola has about 25 food merchants and 40 ICT retail partners. Moola member can visit here for the full list of supported merchants. Each RM 0.01 spent is equivalent to one Moola point. However, the point collection and redemption mechanism may vary according to merchant. You can register as a member for free here.
