iPhone 5 rumours causes panic among smartphone owners

08 August 2012 – Owners of smartphones are currently scrambling to sell off their devices as Apple’s next iPhone draws closer.
Apple will be unveiling the iPhone 5 at their event on the 12th of September, and expected to see a release a week later. Based on the numbers obtained from eBay, trade-in offers generated by its Instant Sale service saw a 70% jump, as rumours on the iPhone 5 started to pour in.
eBay Instant Sale is a service which allows its users to get instant quotes for second-hand devices. They can then sell them directly to eBay rather than having to go through an auction or deal with buyers.
An eBay spokesperson has this to say “Since July 30, more than 185,000 trade-in offers have been generated for customers seeking the trade-in values of their current smartphones as they prepare for the expected launch of the new iPhone.” The following are the top-five smartphone models that eBay Instant Sale have generated quotes for
- iPhone 4S 16GB
- iPhone 4 8GB
- iPhone 4S 32GB
- iPhone 3GS 8GB
- iPhone 4 16GB
This is definitely a good sign for Apple, with iPhone owners being eager to dump their new devices in favour for a new one.
