16 August 2012 - Judge Lucy Koh told the two tech giants to speak to each other at least once before a jury begins deliberating next week in their patent trial.
"It's time for peace," U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh said on Wednesday in a San Jose, who added that she could see “risks here for both sides," if the case reaches the jury.
Both Apple and Samsung have been going head-on with each other for three-weeks amid claims that they infringed on each other’s intellectual property. Apple accused the South Korean firm of slavishly copying its iPad and iPhone, Samsung on the other hand says Apple infringed several Samsung patents - including some of its wireless technology.
The companies had previously engaged in mediation with a U.S. magistrate judge, in hopes to smooth things over several times prior to the trial. And Judge Koh hopes that the company can return to the possibility of a settlement before the nine-member jury is scheduled for deliberations next week.
