Comparison - HTC Desire C vs Nokia Lumia 710
Translated by Tan Ming Sin
07 July 2012 – Today we will be comparing two entry-level devices. The HTC Desire C was released recently back in June while the Nokia Lumia 710 has been available since December 2011.
The two devices share the same photo-shooting quality up to 5-megapixels for their rear camera. They also share the same fate of not supporting a front-facing camera. However, their similarity ends here as the Desire C runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) while the Lumia 710 runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.
The HTC Desire C has a slightly lighter chassis compared to the Lumia 710 (98grams vs 125.5grams). The Desire C also comes with a microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB whereas the Lumia 710 is stuck to its 8GB internal storage. An extra point to this device is the Beats Audio sound enhancement to offer a better music experience.
On the other hand, the Lumia 710 comes with a larger and better display compared against the Desire C. The Lumia 710 has a 3.7-inch display screen with 480x800 pixels while the Desire C only offers a 3.5-inch display screen with 320x480 pixels. Even in comparison of the pixel density, the Lumia 710 has the advantage as well (~252 ppi vs ~165 ppi).
Both devices support a 5-megapixel rear camera. However, the Lumia 710 is capable of recording up to 720p videos. The Lumia 710 also spots a better clocked processor (1.4GHz vs 600MHz) compared to the Desire C.
The Desire C is priced at S$ 398 while the Lumia 710 is priced at S$ 439. From the features offered by both the devices, the Lumia 710 seems to have better value for your money. Unless you prefer to use the Android operating system, go for the simplistic Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.
