25 July 2012 - Like the new iPhone, the next-gen iPod Touch is rumoured to get a bigger screen too. Japanese blog Macotakara is reporting that the fifth-gen iPod Touch is getting a four-inch LCD display, similar to reports about the new iPhone.
There are a few hardware redesigns, the blog's sources says that the iPod Touch will be getting the same processor as the iPhone 4S - which is an A5 chip. Whereas other specs of the iPod will be similar to the 4S as well. But instead of the glass design of the iPhone 4 and 4S, the new iPod Touch’s back is covered in aluminium.
According the blog’s sources, there is a mystery jack on the lower part of the iPod Touch, whose purpose is currently unknown.
And just to make this story just a little more possible, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in his report that iPod Touch is in the works. And he adds that the iPod Touch will also come with the same in-cell display technology planned for the next iPhone. The in-cell display tech keeps devices thin and also improves display quality.
Kuo added in his reports the iPod nano will be seeing a complete redesign too, with an oblong body, rectangular screen, and home button similar to that found on iOS devices.
The iPod Touch is set to be introduced in September or October, which is the same time the iPhone is expected to debut.
