US Court grants Apple preliminary injunction on Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S III might be at risk

02 July 2012 – The US Court has granted the preliminary injunction on Samsung Galaxy Nexus, in the favor of Apple.
FossPatents reported that Apple’s lawyers have successfully convinced Judge Lucy Koh that Samsung has infringed four of its patents, specifically the patent on unified search or also known as the “Siri patent” (‘604 patent).
From the injunction ruling, the Court reasoned that Siri’s unified search functionality is the key factor of driving the consumer demand of the iPhone 4S.
According to TheVerge, Samsung Galaxy Nexus has demonstrated to equip with the “unified search box” feature, which is also its key driving sales, causing Apple irreparable harm in terms of significant loss of market share, if the sales of Galaxy Nexus continue with the unified search box feature.
By winning preliminary injunction on the Galaxy Nexus, it is possible that Apple would go for an injunction on Samsung Galaxy S III next, as it seems most likely to able to establish the infringement of Apple’s Siri patent against Samsung’s S Voice.
