19 July 2012 – The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) was announced in February 2012 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was announced in March 2011. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the first 10-inch tablet from Samsung, to succeed its 7-inch model. On the other hand, the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) is a refresh of the original 10-inch tablet.


On the surface, both tablets are identical in terms of dimension. They carry a 10.1-inch PLS display with 800 x 1280 resolution pixels and scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. Connectivity-wise, they both support HSDPA 21 Mbps, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS. The tablets also equipped with a 3-megapixel camera and a front facing camera for video chat. The Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) and Galaxy Tab 10.1 are both powered by a dual-core processor bundled with 1GB of RAM. They both have a 7000 mAh battery.


The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) is a tablet that runs on Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.0 with TouchWiz UX user interface on top. Unlike its predecessor, it has a microSD slot that accepts cards up to 32GB. It is powered by a Texus Instruments dual-core processor rather than NVIDIA’s Tegra 3. Plus, the built-in IR transmitter could be used as your TV’s remote control.


The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a tad thinner (8.6 vs 9.7mm) and lighter (565 vs 588g) than its successor.  It is powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor and is running on Android 3.2 Honeycomb. It is upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.


In terms of pricing, the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) is 5% more expensive than its predecessor. Both are great multimedia tablets, but the latest tablet from Samsung is the one you should go for.

Samsung has designed the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2 for home and family use. It packs a 1GHz dual-core processor, a 1GB of RAM, a 3-megapixel camera, a front facing VGA camera and runs on Android 4.0 with Samsung TouchWiz UI. It has a 10-inch PLS LCD display with 1280 x 800 resolution pixels.


It is packed with a 7000 mAh battery and comes with either 16/32GB internal storage. It also accepts microSD cards up to 32GB.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was reintroduced during CTIA after Samsung made some improvements to make it more competitive with Apple iPad 2. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a 10.1-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution pixels, 1GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and Android 3.0.


There is a dual-camera, with a 3-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls. Plus, it features a dual-antenna WiFi for better reception.
