Telcos stock nano-SIMs ahead of iPhone 5 launch

17 July 2012 – Telcos in Europe are apparently stockpiling new nano-SIM cards in preparation for Apple’s next iPhone. According to The Financial Times, Apple’s European partners have started ordering these chips from suppliers, which will replace the micro-SIMs found in current iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S models.
Although Apple has yet to share any information on its next iPhone, the SIM card is the only component that telcos can prepare ahead of time. The source also states that Apple’s ‘iPhone 5’ will likely be similar in size to the iPhone 4, but it is expected to be slimmer and feature a metal body.
