Phone of the Month - Samsung Galaxy SIII
By Jonathan Cheah
19 June 2012 – The Samsung Galaxy SIII is our phone of the month for June.
The Galaxy S III looks similar to the Galaxy Nexus and has dimensions of 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm and a weight of 133g. It is a tad thicker and heavier than its predecessor, the Galaxy S II. It will be available in two colours at launch, Pebble Blue and Marble White.
Dominating the phone’s surface is the 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display that supports 1280 x 720 resolution pixels. Most versions of the Galaxy S III are powered by the latest 1.4GHz Exynos 4 Quad processor together with 1GB of RAM. However, there are some versions with dual-core processors inside.
We spoke to Vincent Chong, Head of the Mobile Phone Division for Samsung Malaysia. He says, "The launch of Galaxy S III is set to enhance our smartphone leadership this year. We’ve had overwhelming bookings since the launch and the phones are selling considerably well. Last year, the Galaxy S II set a new record for Samsung, generating more than 20 million sales for 10 months from its launch. We are aiming to build on this momentum for this year with the Galaxy S III. We expect to continue to outperform market growth."
That last sentence indicates that the S III will be the market leader for the next few months
The Samsung Galaxy SIII has been announced in Malaysia at RM2199. All the major telcos are all offering various discount packages for this product. You can read more about it here:
