15 June 2012 - Next week is CommunicAsia 2012, in Marina Bay Sands. BroadcastAsia 2012 runs simultaneously at Suntec City. There is a third show called EnterpriseIT, which is slated to take 40% of the exhibition space at the Marina Bay Sands.

The Asia Communication Awards takes place on the first night, 19 June 2012.
Sony Mobile has used CommunicAsia to announce something the last couple of years, so it is a safe bet that it will do so again this year. Apparently, there is news that there are another seven Sony phones that may be announced before the end of 2012.
What everyone is anticipating is an international version of the 4.6-inch Xperia GX sold in Japan.
We know that Nokia will be there. Last year they announced the N9, and usually Nokia picks this time to have their Nokia Connections event at which phones are unveiled.
Michael Lai of Packet One Networks will be speaking at the event. We also know that YTL will be at the awards dinner. Both these companies deal with alternative methods of mobile broadband, and it will be interesting to see what they have to say.

ZTE is showing the V880E, an entry-level 3G phone with a 4-inch screen and a 1GHz CPU.
The Asian manufacturers usually pick CommunicAsia to announce devices made for the Asian market, but this year it has been pretty quiet. Perhaps it is news of a little slowdown in the China economy.
