07 May 2012 – After the long feud which started since 2010, Apple has finally willing to negotiate and compensate Proview for the use of the trademarked name - iPad. Proview lawyer Xie Xianghui said “[It feels] that the attitude of Apple Inc. has changed. Although they expressed that they were willing to negotiate, they have never taken any action before. But now, they are having conversations with us, and we have begun to consult on the case.”
Two weeks before Apple agreed for compensation, Zhao Le, an official at the foreign affairs office of the Higher People’s Court of Guangdong was pushing the two companies to reach an agreement. He explained “on the one hand, we are trying to process this case, and on the other, we are working on encouraging both sides to settle,”
Apple is said to have offered a settlement figure, but Proview has yet to agree. There are some news about the liquidation difficulties in Proview company which explain the delay for agreement. Nonetheless, we will update you for any news.
