Nokia has no plans of releasing hybrid tablet devices

07 May 2012 – Amidst rumours of Nokia coming up with line of smartphone tablet hybrid devices, the company has flat out denied it.
Nokia Chairman Jorma Oilila was quoted last week suggesting that a Nokia tablet would be on the way, but has since refuted such claims by saying that it is still monitoring the market and has yet to come up with a decision.
“Tablets are an important one, so that is being looked into, and there will be different hybrids, different form factors in the future,” Ollila reportedly told Reuters. It was this statement that sparked the initial wave of rumours that Nokia would be bringing a Windows hybrid tablet to the table.
“What Mr. Ollila said has been misconstrued a bit,” a Nokia spokesperson said in a recent interview. “As we have been saying, we are watching the space with interest, but have made no announcements regarding a tablet product.”
