03 May 2012 – Nokia officially announced that it will be filling lawsuits against HTC, RIM and Viewsonic for patent infringement in the US and Germany.

The Finnish firm’s suit covers 45 patents in total. It claims that the three firms had either illegally used patented hardware which includes - dual function antennas, power management and multimode radios. Or software features like application stores, multitasking, navigation, conversational message display, dynamic menus, data encryption and retrieval of email attachments on a mobile device.

Espoo had recently won a suit against Apple worth $600 million, and is looking its chest of patents to help with the company’s waning profits after posting a poor first quarter and reported that its second-quarter result won't improve dramatically either.
