Phone of the Month - Sony Xperia P
By Jonathan Cheah
22 May 2012 - The Sony Xperia P is our phone of the month for May.
Just like the HTC One X, this phone was also announced in February 2012. The Xperia P delivers a ‘bright viewing experience’ with Sony’s WhiteMagic display technology.
The Sony Xperia P has a 4-inch 540 x 960 Reality display, 1 GHz dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera.
The device also claims to capture 3D panoramic images, but you have to view such images on a 3D TV. There is also the option to take a multi-angle picture, which simulates a 3D image on screen.
The transparent element below the screen is a distinctive feature found on all of the Xperia NXT series. It has illumination effects and has parts of the antenna inside.
We also caught up with Ola Lilja Molén, Head of SEA Markets for Sony Mobile Communications. He says, "The Xperia P is a premium entertainment device which offers consumers the best of Sony entertainment and easy connectivity with other devices. It also introduces Sony’s WhiteMagic display technology, giving consumers outstanding screen brightness in any light. Anticipation for Sony’s new smartphones in Malaysia has been high ever since they were previewed recently and we are optimistic the Xperia P will be well received by consumers here."
The Sony Xperia P is retailed in Singapore at S$ 688 without contract, the exlclused local Telco is SingTel. Android 2.3 Gingerbread is a bit outdated but Sony promises to provide upgraded in due course.
