US Army Readies Up Military App Store

25 March 2012 - An app store dedicated to soldiers? That’s right, the US Army has officially announced a prototype of the Army Software Marketplace, a web-based app store that for starters includes twelve apps for training approved by the military.
The Army says that the Marketplace will "radically reduce the time to deliver applications across the force".
It will start with iOS support first, but will eventually extend to Android devices.
The US Army says it is looking to expand considerably from just those few apps, and the app store is "a first step in establishing and exercising new submission and approval processes that will eventually enable Army members, organizations and third-party developers to release applications for Army-wide distribution".
