27 February 2012 – Nokia took the opportunity at MWC 2012 today to introduce a new Windows Phone device to the Lumia series, the Lumia 610.
The Lumia 610 is an entry-level Window Phone device. It has a 3.7-inch LCD display with 800 x 480 resolution pixels. Under the hood, it has an 800MHz processor, 256MB of RAM and an 8GB on-board storage. It has a 5-megapixel primary shooter. There is no front-facing camera for this phone, so no video chats.
If you do notice, the specification of the Lumia 610 falls slightly below than the minimum requirement specified by Microsoft to run Windows Phone operating system. This is part of Nokia’s and Microsoft’s plan on reaching mass consumer at a bigger scale. In this case, the Lumia 610 runs on Tango, an updated version of Windows Phone 7.5 that Microsoft has optimized to support lower memory and processor requirement.
The Lumia 610 is expected to release in the second quarter of 2012 with a price of €189. It comes in four colors - white, cyan, magenta and black.
