Kodak alleges Samsung infringe on its imaging patents

19 January 2012 - Eastman Kodak Company has just announced that they will be filing a lawsuit  against the South Korean giant for patent infringement related to digital imaging. This marks the second time Kodak is suing Samsung for violating one of the patents. Samsung had earlier paid USD $550 million to settle the suit. The company has also filed lawsuits against Apple and HTC for violating photo transmission patents, in an attempt to reverse the company ailing financial situation.


 

A total of five patent was brought up by Kodak against Samsung. 
 
U.S. Patent No. 6,292,218 – "Electronic Camera For Initiating Capture of Still Images While Previewing Motion Images"
 
U.S. Patent No. 7,210,161 – "Automatically Transmitting Images from an Electronic Camera to a Service Provider Using a Network Configuration File"
 
U.S. Patent No. 7,742,084 – "Network Configuration File for Automatically Transmitting Images from an Electronic Still Camera"
 
U.S. Patent No. 7,453,605 – "Capturing Digital Images to be Transferred to an E-Mail Address"
 
U.S. Patent No. 7,936,391 – "Digital Camera with Communications Interface for Selectively Transmitting Images over a Cellular Phone Network and a Wireless LAN Network to a Destination"
 
Kodak lawsuit
 
" Syarikat Eastman Kodak telah mengumumkan bahawa mereka akan memfailkan tuntutan mahkamah terhadap gergasi Samsung bagi pelanggaran paten yang berkaitan dengan pengimejan digital. Ini merupakan kali kedua Kodak menyaman Samsung kerana melanggar salah satu paten mereka. Samsung sebelum ini dibayar USD $ 550 juta untuk menyelesaikan saman itu. Syarikat itu juga telah memfailkan tindakan undang-undang terhadap Apple dan HTC kerana melanggar paten penghantaran photo, dalam usaha untuk memperbaiki kedudukan kewangan syarikat yang tenat "
