HP TouchPad Price Slash to $400 in US

12 August 2011 – HTC has done a price revision recently to its 7-inch HTC Flyer tablet to make it more competitive to the market. Similarly, HP is reported to make a permanent price slash on HP TouchPads, with a price of $400 (approx. RM 1200) for the 16GB model and $500 (approx. RM 1500) for the 32GB model. By having the price cut, it is believed that HP is able to be a more competitive standing in the market to head on with its primary rival, the Android tablets. According to CNET, Acer is selling the cheapest Android tablet, with a starting price of $395 (approx. RM 1190), followed by the Asus Eee Pad Transformer at $400 (approx. RM 1200). 


HP TouchPad is a WebOS tablet that is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It has a 9.7-inch display with 1024 x 768 resolution pixels and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, as well as other common connectivity options including WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and GPS. The HP TouchPad is not available in Malaysia yet.
