Nokia hints at possible Windows 8 tablet

04 November 2011 – With much discussion surrounding the expansion of Nokia’s presence in America, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop was just recently made suggestions that his company may have a Windows 8 tablet in the works.

Speaking to Bloombery in a recent interview, he told them that “there’s a new tablet opportunity coming. We see the opportunity. Unquestionably, that will change the dynamics [of the market].” Elop sees Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system as a’supercharrged’ version its Windows Phone operating system, hence the interest in using the OS on a tablet.
Nokia recently announced its first two Windows Phone smartphones, the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800, during the Nokia World conference. Elop confirmed the existence of a Nokia tablet in April, although initial reports suggested it might exclude Microsoft from its tablet plans. Meanwhile, Microsoft has already demonstrated a number of devices running Windows 8, with the first batch of such devices expected to hit the market by the end of next year.
