ZTE Skate in Malaysia for RM999

16 November 2011 – Want an Android smartphone but on a tight budget? Well don’t fret, ZTE just launched the mid-end ZTE Skate attached to a RM999 price point. The Skate is equipped with a 4.3-inch TFT touchscreen displaying 480 x 800 pixels.
It is powered by Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread), so you’ll get Marketplace access too. The Skate has a 140 gram chassis, and ZTE claims it is comfortable enough to operate with one hand.
ZTE says that the Skate is aimed that young adult who needs an inexpensive smartphones that need to be connected to the internal and their social networks.
Other features include a 5-megapixel camera, A-GPS, Bluetooth v2.1, and a FM radio receiver. There is 512MB internal memory and microSD slot that goes up to 32GB. There is HSPDA and a WiFi for data connectivity.
For performance, the Skate relies on an 800MHz processor and an Andreno 200 GPU.
Jeremy Zhao, Head of Terminal Division ZTE Malaysia said “Malaysia is an important market for ZTE, as we are seeing an ever-growing telecommunications market”. The Skate is already available in Hong Kong, Germany, UK and the US, and will be rolled out gradually worldwide.
