03 October 2011 HTC Explorer has been officially announced by HTC recently. The HTC Explorer (previously known as HTC Pico) will be market as an entry level Android smartphone.

Measuring only at 102.8 x 57.2 x 12.9mm and weighs 108g, the HTC Explorer is a light and portable phone that is easy to be carried at anywhere. Similar to the HTC Wildfire S, it has a 3.2-inch TFT LCD display with 320 x 480 resolution pixels.

The HTC Explorer still uses the same 600MHz processor in the HTC Wildfire S, coupled with 384MB of RAM. It is running on Android version 2.3 (Gingerbread) with HTC Sense UI 3.5.

It covers all the basic connectivity options, including HSDPA of 14.4Mbps, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS.

Unlike what we have reported in the leak earlier, the HTC Explorer has a 3.15-megeapixel main shutter instead of 5-megapixel. Storage-wise, it has a 90MB internal storage and supports expandable microSD card up to 32GB. The device also comes with a range of customizable back covers including Metallic Blue, Orange, White and Purple.

The HTC Explorer will be available in Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa starting from Q4 of 2011.
