Buying Guide – Nokia Supernova Family

08 July 2009 – The Nokia Supernova range of phone is a set of five phones made by Nokia. Currently there are two candybars (7210 Supernova & 7310 Supernova), two sliders (7100 Supernova & 7610 Supernova) and a clamshell (7510 Supernova).
This buying guide will look into the cost of the devices and which one would be an ideal buy at this point of time. All five Supernova phones are non-3G devices, supporting EDGE data speeds but lacking the extra bandwidth offered by 3G. All except the 7100 Supernova have microSD / TransFlash slots for memory expansion.
In our opinion, the Supernova 7310 is the best value for money at this point of time, with the Supernova 7610 model a close second. Both of them have the 3.2 megapixel camera, but we did not think the paying an extra RM 260 for an extra 32MBs of memory was quite worth it. The 7610’s ability with the Theme Colorizer software is not enough to justify the extra cost.
Nokia 7100 Supernova (RM 390-405)
2.5G EDGE, Slider, 1.3 MP Camera, 4 MB Memory
The Nokia 7100 Supernova is a low-to-mid-end slider phone that works on the Tri-band GSM network. It features TFT 262k colours, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, Opera Mini browser, Flash Lite 2.1.1, MicroSD card slot and a 1.3 MP camera.
The Nokia 7100 Supernova also includes support for Mail on Ovi, as well as a browser for surfing information on the Internet. It is available in Jelly Red, Fresh Blue or Black.

Nokia 7210 Supernova (RM 420 - 435)
2.5G EDGE, Candybar, 2.0 MP Camera, 30 MB Memory + microSD
Nokia 7210 Supernova is a Tri-band GSM phone which features S40 3rd edition OS, TFT 262k colors at 240 x 320 resolution. It has a chic, slim design and is available in Bubble Gum Pink or Vivid Blue.
It has an SD memory card slot and allows favourite music and videos to be easily played and saved. A 2 megapixel camera and access to Flickr provide one click access to share photos.

Nokia 7310 Supernova (RM 500 - 515)
2.5G EDGE, Candybar, 3.2 MP Camera, 32 MB Memory + MicroSD slot
Nokia 7310 Supernova has Quad-band GSM support and will run on the S40 user interface. It has 3.2 megapixel camera, features a 16 million color, 2.2 inch QVGA screen, built-in FM radio and music player, stereo Bluetooth A2DP, expandable memory, USB connectivity, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Nokia 7510 Supernova (RM 735 - 750)

The Nokia 7510 Supernova features magical light effects with a hidden-until-lit display and a reminder light. With outstanding mechanical quality, a soft feel and solid metal hinge, the phone features a 2 megapixel camera with NIPS, LED flash, 4x digital zoom, a large 2.2 inch QVGA display and a new user friendly Nokia web browser for easy access to Nokia Search, Share on OVI and Flickr.
It holds an FM Radio, an enhanced MP3 player, access to Nokia Music Store and Nokia Music PC Client. Additional features include a link to YouTube, access to Nokia Maps 1.2 to navigate with free mapping, routing and local search, support of A-GPS and the Nokia WidSets service.
Nokia 7510 Supernova also features EDGE support, stereo Bluetooth, 27 MB of internal memory and a microSD slot. The 92 x 46 x 17 mm large Series 40 phone that weighs 124 grams, will be shipped with a 512 MB memory card and is available in Storm Blue, Fatal Red, Emerald Green or Espresso Brown.

Nokia 7610 Supernova (RM 768-783)

The Nokia 7610 Supernova has an innovative Theme Colorizer feature that lets people identify and capture any color and further tailor a look by applying captured colors to the phone's key illumination and wallpaper.
Additional features include a 3.2 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 8x digital zoom, instant messaging and TV out for image sharing. With the Nokia 7610 Supernova, consumers can also enjoy and manage music with a dedicated music key, FM-radio, an MP3 player and access to Nokia Music Store through the Nokia Music PC Client. The Nokia WidSets service gives access to enjoy and share content on favourite websites through the device.
The 98 x 48 x 15 mm large phone, weighing 99 grams, will have the special feature of being capable of recording 640 x 480 pixel large videos at 15 frames/sec. It is available in Muted Gray,Blue,Red, Bright Lilac or White.
