Analysis: Nokia 7020
By Jonathan Cheah
22 May 2009 – The Nokia 7020 is a clamshell device in the Nokia 7xxx range, and it has a 2 megapixel camera built in.
The 7020 is in the Nokia 7xxx range, which identifies the phone as a fashion device. This means that greater pains are taken with the appearance of the device. The 7510 Supernova is an earlier Nokia in the 7xxx range which is also a clamshell.
The latest phones in this range are of the Prism and Supernova types. Here are a few of them
It would appear that the Nokia 7020 is a mid-range clamshell. It is a 2G phone with support for EDGE but thus far there has been no indication that the device will support 3G.
Nokia announced the 7020 on 19 May 2009.

Apparently, this is the Nokia where a stardust effect is introduced. According to the press release, the stardust effect is an animation that appears when you interact with the normally hidden external display. This will appear automatically when you receive a call or text, but users can also bring it to life by simply tapping twice on the external display. The 7510 Supernova had a hidden display that was visible only when the phone is active.
Our Opinion:
The Nokia 7020 is another in a line of clamshell devices in the Nokia 7 series range after the 7510 Supernova. It does not have top of the line specifications, which leaves room for improvements such as more memory and a camera with more megapixels.
The current crop of 7xxx phones are mostly Supernovas and Prisms. While mostly candybar phones, there is a slider 7610 Supernova and a clamshell 7510 Supernova. The thing is although the specs are pretty much similar, the 7510 Supernova started out at 180 Euros whereas the 7020 will be starting out at 90 Euros.
