The Nokia N79 Active receives an upgrade that is marketed to the heath conscious crowd. It tracks your daily running distance and bundles in music functionality. The Nokia N79 Active is the same phone bundled with Polar Bluetooth heart rate straps, which is strapped to the users’ abdomen, which monitor and tracks heart rate and body data.
The Active upgrade has the Nokia Sports Track application being installed onto the N79 – for sharing routes with fellow runners. With A-GPS tracking, the Sports Tracker app record and publish your running/biking routes fitness data onto the web.
There will also be a pair of sports headphones and an armband which should make the Nokia N79 easier to wear while jogging. Geotagging is also available for runners, who want to personalize their GPS maps.
Being the smallest Nokia Nseries device yet- the N79 Active comes with sporty headphones and an armband. The phone comes with a 4GB microSD memory card for your songs and photos - and integrates nicely with the Nokia Music Store. Plus, there’s a FM receiver.
The N79 is a candybar phone with 240 x 320 pixels, 2.4 inches 16 million screen. The phone has quad band GSM connectivity, with HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity. The Nokia N79 Active features a 5-megapixel camera, as usual with Carl Zeiss optics. The keypad has a touch-sensitive navi wheel, and an accelerometer for auto-rotation.

Our opinion:
The N79 Active is an interesting device for the health enthusiast that wants to keep track of their daily exercise regime. Being an Nseries trademark, the N79 Active is an all-round multimedia device.
Priced at US $492, the Nokia N79 Active will be available in select markets. That translates into about RM 1,762 over here.
The Active has the Polar device, Sports trackers apps, an arm strap and a 4GB microSD card with songs, which separate it from the N79. So it comes to down to the sports kit and the willingness to fork out an extra RM 250 for the Active kit- with the N79 priced at RM 1,500.
