A Buyers Guide To Mobile Phones
27 October 2008 –In today’s hectic world a mobile phone is becoming essential. However, making phone calls and sending text messages is only the beginning. It is standard for new mobile phones to be able to take pictures, access the Internet and play MP3s. Different phones will focus on different features and it is important to pick the right phone to suit your own needs.
Nokia N96
Nokia have always been renowned for producing phones that are simple to use and the N96 continues this tradition. That doesn`t mean the features are any less complex and exciting. It boasts a massive 5-megapixel camera and even has a GPS navigation system built in for those that find themselves getting lost all too easily. The battery life isn`t the best around though and phone will probably need charging each day.
Nokia 8800 Arte
This phone is all about luxury. A 2-inch high colour screen with an ambient light sensor creates an elegant and stylish look. The camera is 3.2-megapixels which is high quality, but not as good as some of its contemporaries.
Sony Ericsson C902i
The C902i is packed with features, including a 5-megapixel Cyber-Shot camera with touch sensitive camera keys. The phone is simple to use and its sleek design is complemented by its substantial weight. One possible downfall is the buttons, as they are situated very close together and can be difficult to use.
Sony Ericsson W980i
A phone with great musical capabilities, with a Walkman music player and 8-gigabytes of memory. The screen quality isn`t as good as some other mobiles that are currently available but the 3G technology and FM radio go someway to making up for this.
Sony Ericsson K850i
This mobile has most of the features you would expect from a top of the range phone. A 5-megapixel camera with flash, web browser and video calling. There have been problems however with size of the keypad and the temperamental touch screen.
Samsung F480
This sleek and fashionable mobile from Samsung has a 2.8 inch screen which makes the pictures taken on the 5-megapixel camera look fantastic. Quality of audio, including calls is not as crisp as would be expected but there are many other features that make this an exciting new mobile.
Samsung Omnia i900
A phone demonstrating how far technology has come; complete with a Windows operating system and Wi-Fi technology. Touch screen and a full keyboard are also somehow incorporated. These modern features seem to come at a cost though, with much reported crashing and freezing.
LG KU990 Viewty
The 3-inch touch screen is the main focus of this fashionable phone. The camera is a massive 5.1-megapixels and includes a video recorder too. However there have been many complaints about the short battery life.
Motorola RAZR2 V8
Fashion and design is the focus of this handset. It`s slim-line flip-phone that also has a music player with touch sensitive external music controls. The downside is the camera is only 2-megapixels but for this is a good choice for those more worried about how their mobile looks.
Apple iPhone 3G
With a 3.5-inch multi touch screen, iPod music player and GPS navigation, it could be asked why this piece of technology needs a phone built in. The complete package as far current phones on the market go. Those with mp3 players already may not feel the need for this extravagant mobile but those without would be killing two birds with one stone.
Using mobile broadband is a great way to connect your mobile to the Internet, something that is going to become a lot more popular in the near future. The vast majority of the phones above support the use of mobile broadband and it is a feature that is becoming standard on all new mobile phones.
