BlackBerry smartphones debut in Bangladesh
Available for the first time in Bangladesh, BlackBerry smartphones will provide Grameenphone's customers with access to a wide range of mobile applications, including email, browsing, messaging, phone, organizer, multimedia and a wide range of other business and lifestyle applications.
Anders Jensen, CEO at Grameenphone said: “The BlackBerry platform is the gold standard in mobility for business users around the world. We are proud to be the first mobile operator launching the BlackBerry platform in Bangladesh, bringing in the next level of global connectivity for businesses.”
Norm Lo, Vice President of Asia Pacific at Research In Motion said, “The BlackBerry platform, together with Grameenphone’s network, will offer an innovative and powerful mobile solution that enables users to be more productive, flexible and successful in both work and life.”
Grameenphone will initially offer the BlackBerry® 8700g and the BlackBerry® Pearl™ smartphones in conjunction with BlackBerry® Enterprise Server and BlackBerry® Internet Service. The BlackBerry 8700g and the BlackBerry Pearl will operate on Grameenphone’s EDGE/GPRS enabled GSM network.
For corporate customers who use software such as MS Exchange Server, the BlackBerry Enterprise Service will best suit their needs, as the software tightly integrates with IBM Lotus® Domino®, Microsoft® Exchange and Novell® GroupWise® environments and features IT policy controls for managing smartphone features and usage. Individuals and smaller businesses can use the BlackBerry Internet Service that allows users to manage up to ten supported corporate and personal email accounts, including most popular ISP email accounts, from a single device
The BlackBerry 8700g and the BlackBerry Pearl smartphones will be available from Grameenphone in January 2008.
