LG Captures Number One Spot for U.S. in WCDMA
SAN DIEGO, March 26 - According to market share data from
Strategy Analytics, Inc. Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, LG Electronics has
retained the number two ranking for sales of mobile phones in the United
States in 2006, shipping just over 24 million handsets for the year.
In addition to sustaining a shipment market share in North America of
more than 15 percent in all technologies, LG Mobile Phones captured the
number one spot in the burgeoning WCDMA market with 1.1 million units
shipped in 2006 and a market share of 50 percent.
Strategy Analytics reports that LG Mobile Phones also continued its
dominance in the global handset market, once again securing the number one
spot for global CDMA sales for the year. Global CDMA sales for LG Mobile
Phones were 38.5 million units vaulting LG Mobile Phones to over 22 percent
market share worldwide.

innovative handsets that meet the demand of the current consumer
