24 September 2004 – The tri-band Nokia 6260
smartphone tailored for mobile professionals has started shipping in select markets. It runs on the Series 60 Platform and Symbian OS, and offers push to talk functionality, email, a document and presentation viewer, a VPN client, Bluetooth connectivity and a VGA camera in an innovative fold design. It will retail for around 400 Euros.
The 6260 smartphone has a presentation and document viewer that allows users to view compatible email attachments directly on their phone. It also features swappable multimedia memory cards onto which email attachments, images, video clips and texts can be saved. There is an integrated VPN client to protected access to corporate data.
With its display on a 270-degree hinge, the Nokia 6260
smartphone is operational in 4 different modes, each adapted for a different use. Open it to talk, fold it with the display to face out to browse the web or access applications, twist the display to activate the camera, or close it flat to slip into your briefcase. It works with the Nokia Wireless Keyboard over Bluetooth wireless technology.
