The Reno2 Is Oppo’s Latest Flagship Quad-Camera Smartphone In Malaysia At RM2,299

The Oppo Reno2 is officially here and it is Oppo’s third smartphone with quad cameras in less than a month. Unlike the A9 2020 and A5 2020, the Reno2 is Oppo’s flagship release and it is a follow up to the first-gen Reno family which gave us memorable devices such as the Reno 10x Zoom.

The Reno2 is a familiar-looking device and instantly recognisable with its unique “shark fin” pop-up camera, which Oppo calls the “pivot rising camera”. Like the first Reno phones, the Reno2 has no notch and puts its fingerprint sensor under the display, which is an improved “Sunlight AMOLED Screen” that Oppo claims not only extends the screen service life by 50% but also reduce power consumption by 6%. It also lays claim to be the first smartphone recognised with the full care display certification from TUV Rehinland, with 37.5% decrease in blue light compared to its predecessors.

The best bits are obviously on its quad-camera system which is made up of the main 48MP camera, a 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 13MP telephoto lens as well as 2MP monographic lens that shoots true black and white pictures. Oppo has included tons of features to complement its camera hardware. For photography, there are 5x hybrid zoom, 20x digital zoom and an Ultra Dark Mode. On the other hand, videography enthusiasts can take advantage of Ultra Steady Mode, Bokeh Effect Video and Audio Zoom to bring higher qualities to their smartphone-recorded videos.

Some specs highlights include 8GB RAM, 256GB of storage and 4,000mAh battery that boasts VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge.

Oppo Malaysia has also announced the arrival of the Reno2 F at the same event, a more affordable variant which employs a more-traditional pop up selfie camera. It similarly has a quad-camera setup but swaps the telephoto lens for a depth sensor. It also uses a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset instead.
