Oppo Officially Unveils The R7 and R7 Plus

The Oppo R7 and Oppo R7 Plus are here as they were just launched earlier today.
oppo-r7-r7-plus-press-710x710With an emphasis on style, the R7 (and its bigger sibling) are a sleek and stylish device with metal curves running all over its body. It’s not as thin as Oppo R5 though, but still a very slim phone coming at just 6.3mm and weighs 147g while the R7 Plus measures at 7.8mm and 203g respectively.

There are more than just display size differences between the R7 and R7 Plus (5-inch vs 6-inch AMOLED 1080p display) though, as the smaller phone has physical capacitive keys below the screen while the larger phone has on-screen navigation buttons.

Other major differences include default internal storage memory (16GB for the R7 and 32GB for the R7 Plus; both can be expanded with microSD card), battery sizes (2,320mAh vs 4,100mAh with VOOC fast charging technology) and the presence of a fingerprint sensor located at the back that is only found on the R7 Plus. Last but not least, even though both are running Oppo’s ColorOS 2.1, oddly enough only the R7 Plus has Android Lollipop while the R7 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Both devices have 3GB RAM on board powered by 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core processor with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset. They are also equipped with a 13MP rear camera with RGBW-type sensor while for selfie purposes, the 8MP front-facer will do the job.

Pricings-wise, the R7 will go for RMB2,499 (around RM1,460) whereas the R7 Plus costs RMB2,999 (around RM1,750) in either silver or gold. The R7 will see the light of the day first with online preorder kicking off today on and with a release date set on June 15. It will be followed by the R7 Plus sometimes in August.
