OnePlus will not jump on the foldable smartphone bandwagon for now

Just recently, the foldable smartphone trend is beginning to take off, with manufacturers coming up with their own offering. Leading the charge is Samsung and Huawei, with the Galaxy Fold and Mate X, respectively. That said, the rather price points of such devices have seen certain companies not so keen, with OnePlus being one of them.

Liu Zuohu, CEO of OnePlus, said in an interview that the company has not found a foldable screen device that is suitable for users. They believe that the existing folding screen device solution cannot create enough gap with traditional smartphones. As such, the current solution meets the demanding requirements of a smartphone. With that in mind, the next generation of OnePlus mobile phones will not use the folding screen and will instead continue to use full-screen design.

Xiaomi and Lenovo are working on their own foldable smartphones at the moment, so it will be interesting if OnePlus changes its tune down the line.
