Next generation of the In-Display Touch ID is showcased

Apple appears to have plans to improve the implementation of its Touch ID tech. According to Patently Apple, Cupertino was granted a new patent that entails a new in-display fingerprint scanner tech that uses pin hole cameras under the display.

In addition, the published patent includes photos of a working prototype of the new hardware, suggesting Apple is near to actually implementing the new technology in its upcoming devices. Furthermore, the technology does not require precise placement of the finger for the prints to be read. In any case, it doesn’t looks like new Touch ID tech will be making it in time to be part of this year’s iPhones, with next year being a bit more likely.
