Moto G, Moto X, & Moto E here to get Android 4.4.4 update very soon

A Tweet from Motorola India has verified that the latest version of  Android, v4.4.4, will be rolled out to Moto series smartphones in the region, skipping the 4.4.3 update entirely.

Motorola released the 4.4.3 version of Android just last month to North American users, but in a surprise move decided to forego that update in Asia and proceed directly with the 4.4.4 version, which was made available on North American Motorola devices the Moto G, Moto X, and the scaled-down Moto E, the latest super-affordable handset to hit the market, which was revealed to the world this past May in London.

Thus far the Android devices to partake of v4.4.4 consist of Google’s own Nexus range of devices including the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, both 2012 and 2013 variants of the Nexus 7, and the Nexus 10 full-sized tablet. The Nexus stable is normally the first to receive any Android update anyway, as well as Google Play versions of HTC, Sony, LG, and also the Moto G Google Play Edition.

With Malaysia as a strong possibility to receive the update along with India and the like in the area, it looks like Motorola afficianados over here can look forward to the new release soon, but is also considered a minor update emphasising security improvements for OpenSSL issues, camera and app alert enhancements, as well as a new graphical UI and colour layout for the phone dialer. Android 4.4.3 updates and bug fixes will naturally also be included.

With the recently launched Motorola Moto E almost certainly coming to Malaysia along with the 4G LTE version Moto G in the next few months, it looks like the full complement of Moto series flagships in the country will be obtaining the 4.4.4 version in the very near future.

But Motorola users are advised to be patient as 4.4.4 is rolling out in phases, and will not be immediately available on all Moto handsets. Tech-savvy users however can head over to Android’s developer page immediately to download the update via a PC.
