All that hype finally comes to a head when Oppo launches the F5 with great fanfare and plenty of star attractions.

From the interesting banter and eye candy provided by Oppo’s local ambassadors Fattah Amin and Ayda Jebat – who also throws in an energetic song performance on stage – to the heart-stealing crooning and cheeky poses by Yoga Lin who flew in all the way from Taiwan, the Oppo F5 was launched in typical Oppo bombastic fashion, heralding the arrival of a new chapter in their successful journey in Malaysia ever since their debut here back in 2013.

No doubt the real star of the show is the selfie phone itself, which introduces several firsts for an Oppo smartphone in our market – First Oppo phone to sport a “so 2017” 18:9 aspect ratio display. First Oppo phone to boast a facial unlock technology. First Oppo phone to have A.I. (artificial intelligent) technology built into its front-facing camera, that allows it to detect the gender, age, skin tone and type of the subject and match them against its global image database of human faces as part of a process to produce more naturally-looking selfies. (Heck, it is also smoker-friendly thanks to its teeth-whitening software tweak).

Of course, a selfie phone worth its salt in 2017 takes “bokeh selfies” and the Oppo F5 offers that option, even with its single front-facing camera, speaking of which, is a 20MP shooter. Less prominent but no less important it its 16MP rear counterpart.

Here’s a rundown of the Oppo F5’s specs list

To celebrate its release, Oppo will be having roadshows in three different locations on November 11 (3pm) in which you can see more of Oppo’s celebrity ambassadors. The first 50 customers who purchase the phone during the roadshow will not only get a signed autography but also stand a chance to have a selfie taken with the man himself.
