HP to release ElitePad and EliteBook Revolve in Malaysia

Hewlett-Packard Malaysia on Tuesday revealed their latest product range to hit Malaysian shores, including two sleek business tablets, the ElitePad 900 and the EliteBook Revolve.

HP Malaysia Market Development Manager Lee Kum Weng spoke at length about both models, including their retail release dates. The ElitePad 900 is out in stores now, while the EliteBook Revolve, a full-performance notebook with a screen that swivels into a tablet, is due out in May.

Both devices feature Corning Gorilla Glass 2 display units and NFC support capabilities, and both can be kitted out with a variety of accessories from the HP ElitePad Expansion Suite.

Like the name suggests, the Revolve can be turned and folded into a portable tablet but also has a backlit keyboard, and is quite lightweight at just over 1kg. With a shiny all-magnesium body, it features a 11.6-inch diagonal HD display, with a front-facing camera capable of 720p HD video recording, making it ideal for mobile video conferencing aided by the dual-microphone array and DTS Studio Sound.

Powered by a 3rd-generation Intel chip and with expandable SSD storage up to 256GB, the EliteBook Revolve can be constantly connected to the Internet via an optional mobile broadband connection. Both the Elitebook and the ElitePad 900 come with Intel cores and the Windows 8 operating system, but the ElitePad is backwards compatible with Windows x86 for those legacy apps that do not support Win8.

Targeted at business users, the ElitePad 900 has a 10.1-inch screen with 16:10 viewing aspect ratio, so information can be viewed quickly with minimal scrolling. Made out of durable machined aluminium, the ElitePad is hardy enough to withstand wear-and-tear associated with regular business travel.

Probably playing off HP’s extensive experience in producing portable devices, battery life can be lengthened with the HP smart jacket, which has an additional battery that is portable and relatively light. The ElitePad also supports pen-based input, so depending on your business usage, you can elect for traditional touch or use a stylus for your work.

HP also unveiled their latest line of office hardware which also included a multifunction printer capable of brightly-coloured, water-resistant printouts at half the cost of regular deskjet printers. The Officejet Pro X476dn multifunction will also be available in Malaysia by May.
