These are the specifications for the Oneplus 5T

The OnePlus 5T is still a few days from launch, but all details including unboxing images (except for price) were leaked online.

OnePlus 5T

The OnePlus 5T keeps the red and white retail box OnePlus has used for the last three phones. Contents have the same arrangement – phone, paperwork, dash charger and cable.

The highlight of the OnePlus 5T is the new display that influenced the phone’s design. Full-screen displays have been trending for phones, and the OnePlus 5T has joined the bandwagon.

Leaked promotional materials say the OnePlus 5T has a full optic-AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The 6.01 inch FHD+ screen is protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 with DCI-P3 and sRGB support. Form factor has been kept similar to the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus has mentioned the phone has a screen-to-body ratio of 8.0.5%.

The display takes up so much space on the front and bezels reduced, moving the fingerprint scanner to the back of the phone. The scanner is still fast as OnePlus claims it unlocks in 0.2s.

The 5T has its own display tricks like the OnePlus 5. The phone has a feature called Sunlight Display, described as a software algorithm that lets the phone automatically adapt to harsh light. It works in 4 scenarios; when you access the gallery, when playing a game, taking a photo and recording a video. The display’s contrast is one of the adjusted features for better improved experience. It comes with a Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB/8GB RAM and 64/128GB of UFS 2.1 storage.

The OnePlus 5T keeps the dual rear camera combo. One is a 16MP Sony IMX398 1.12um f/1.7 sensor, and the other is a 20MP Sony IMX376K 1.0um f/1.7 sensor. Both have a 27.22mm focal length. The phone can record in 4K, 1080p and slowmo. EIS for 4K video is also available.

OnePlus says it redesigned the camera app by providing one-handed access to all camera modes with a simple up or down swipe.

The front camera remains at 16MP, a Sony IMX371 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 1.0um pixel size. It will have HDR and screen flash support. The OnePlus 5T will have a USB-C port with support for USB audio even though it still has the 3.5mm audio jack. Dual SIM, NFC and Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX and aptx-HD support is also available.

OnePlus will be launching the 5T with Android 7.1.1 Nougat instead of Android 8.0 Oreo, so that Oreo can be one of the major software updates the phone will get. The OnePlus 5T keeps the 3300mAh battery of the OnePlus 5 and the 34 band support for global LTE support.

From all of this, the display appears to be the only significant change from the OnePlus 5.
