If you don’t like the 18:9 display trend, the Hisense P9 might be something for you. Unlike its yet unannounced sibling that has a 18:9 display and shiny body, the P9 is a rugged smartphone that packs some powerful specs according to its TENAA listing.

Hisense P9

Like most other rugged phones, the Hisense P9 has an octagonal shape with steel frame and visible screws on the side. The design on top of rubberized edges helps the phone survive drops and absorb shocks. The volume rocker and power button is on the left and the orange button on the right is presumably a dedicated camera button.

The P9 has a 5.5” AMOLED screen with 1080p resolution, powered by 1.95GHz octa-core processor and 6GB RAM. It will have 64GB and 128GB variants, with support for storage expansion up to 128GB max. The Hisense P9 comes with dual 12MP rear cameras and 16MP front camera. The phone also has a massive 6000mAh battery and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat. It measures 167 x 80.4 x 13.5mm, weighing in at 260g. TENAA lists Black as the only colour available. The Hisense P9 should be arriving soon now that it has its TENAA certification.
