Smaller Version Of LG G3 Announced – The LG G3 Beat
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has the Galaxy S5 mini. HTC One M8 has the One Mini 2. So would you be surprised if LG comes up with a “mini” version of their current flagship, the LG G3?
The Korean electronics giants have done it before with last year’s flagship, resulting in the LG G2 mini and now they have just revealed the LG G3 Beat.
The LG G3 Beat is essentially a smaller version of the LG G3. How small? While the LG G3 rocks a large 5.5-inch display, the LG G3 Beat still features a pretty large display in the form of a 5-incher. Unfortunately, its screen resolution has been scaled down in the new device, to just 720 x 1280 pixels from the 2K awesomeness (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) of the LG G3.
Meanwhile, the rest of the important specs:
- 2GB RAM
- Quad-core 1.2GHz
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 400
- 8GB internal storage memory (expandable up to 128GB)
- 8MP rear camera
- 1.3MP front-facing camera
- Android 4.4.2 KitKat
- 2,540mAh battery
So it’s not only the display that has undergone a downgrade but pretty much all of the other components. We are not sure whether the LG G3 Beat will appeal to consumers with that set of specs when there are more powerful ones with super-attractive prices to boot too out there in the market, such as the Xiaomi Mi 3.
There has been no mention of its price yet but it was announced that the LG G3 will be available in South Korea starting tomorrow, with some Asian countries and the European market to follow soon. As for Malaysia, your guess is as good as ours, seeing that the LG G3 hasn’t even yet been officially made available here.
Even though the LG G3 Beat is the smaller sibling to the LG G3, it may not be the “mini”. Rumors has it that the LG G3 mini is in the works. Yes, we might be seeing another variant – the true mini.
